I am thrilled to announce that we are PAPER PREGNANT! Yes, that is fancy lingo that the adoption community uses, and funny as it is, its true!
Our application was officially accepted by One World Adoptions and we are excited to officially be admitted to the DR Congo program! No turning back now, not that we would ever want to.
Now that we are officially "paper pregnant" I've spent some time thinking about how different things are this time around. It's a bit cheesy, but I am still excited to be expecting our child, even if they aren't growing my in tummy.
| “NORMAL” PREGNANCY | “PAPER” PREGNANCY |
| You can tell how far along a woman is by her growing belly. | You can tell how far along a woman is by her growing paperwork and wrinkles. |
| Emotional, cries at dog food commercials. | Emotional, cries at dog food commercials |
9 months of pregnancy | 9-18 months of “pregnancy” AKA an elephant pregnancy |
| People “ohh” and “ahh” at your growing baby bump. | People OHHHH and AHHH at your growing to do list. |
| You love your baby from the first moment you find out you're expecting. | You love your baby from the first moment you decide to adopt. |
| A beautiful thing. | A beautiful thing. |
FINANCES AND PROGRESS:
Now that we have been officially admitted to the program, we are beginning the home study process. Our home study agent (is that what they are called? hmmm..) is SUPER cool. She is a Christian and I can already tell we are totally going to click, so that should make the intimidation of it all a bit less scary, although there is still lots to do and prep for.
We had to ask for references this past week, and the letters that have come back have been so heartwarming. They each seemed to capture different aspects our ourselves, and reading what people have to say about our desire to parent another child through adoption was very emotional and touching.
We are officially in this $3650.00. $250 for our application, $200 processing fee and $3200 for the first portion of our agency fees. Thank God we had that in our Scrunchy fund, because we needed every penny of it so far. We have a bit more money in our normal savings, but we WILL run out of money soon without lots of prayer, and financial support.
If you know of anyone interested in buying a ski/wakeboard boat in the Reno/No. Cal area, please contact us as we are putting our boat up for sale as soon as it stops freezing.
Pray for financial miracles from God for us! Nothing is too big for the King of Kings!
We have been SO blessed by some friends and family of ours hoping on board with our mission and blessing us in prayer and financial support. Strangers from various Etsy shops have blessed us with free donations to our raffle, which is so amazing. Friends and family have made sacrifices on our behalf and our childs behalf, and for that there are no words to express our gratitude.
You know who you are, and we love you!
We appreciate every bit of prayer and support!
Our auction starts the 28th, so if you haven't already visit facebook.com/scrunchnosesews and "like" the page to stay up to date and see auction items! We are hoping to raise enough money to cover our home study fees that are coming up which are $2500.
Keep praying for us and stay tuned as our story marches on! <3
